Food Photography at Café Sjiek Maastricht: A Success Story for Zorgzuster Magazine
A unique photography assignment at Café Sjiek
a few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to photograph dishes at the temporarily closed Café Sjiek in Maastricht. This photoshoot was for the care magazine *Zorgzuster*, which featured a special Christmas dinner with recipes. It was a fantastic chance to showcase my food photography skills and contribute to a beautiful magazine.
Collaboration with stylist Dalmanys
to meet the client’s wishes, I discussed in detail how the table styling should look. We decided to align the styling with the magazine’s pastel colors: a combination of pink and green. For this, I collaborated with stylist Dalmanys (www.dalmanys.nl), who helped design an elegant and tasteful setting.
Photoshoot at Café Sjiek: The perfect setting
on the day of the photoshoot, we arrived at the restaurant at 10:00 AM. We unloaded the styling materials and flowers from the car and selected the best locations inside the restaurant for the tables and dishes. The stained-glass windows and rich red velvet curtains provided a stunning backdrop that perfectly complemented the festive Christmas table. These details contributed to the atmospheric look of the food photos.
A successful result
after an intensive workday until 2:00 PM, we looked back with satisfaction at the result. The digital version of *Zorgzuster* has now arrived, and the food photos were beautifully incorporated into the article. To my great delight, one of my photos even graced the cover of this special Christmas issue. This success has given me a lot of energy and inspiration to continue my work, especially in these challenging times for entrepreneurs.
