A beautifully decorated new home by the water, a sunny morning – that was the perfect backdrop and light for my baby photoshoot with this lovely young family.
Originally, the mother’s sister had gifted them a maternity photoshoot, but since it didn’t take place, we instead created these beautiful baby photos together.
Starting the Photoshoot in the Nursery
As always, the session started in the nursery. Many people often ask me, “Do you bring accessories?” My answer is always: No. Why? Because I believe it’s important not to use standard accessories.
If I were to bring the same teddy bear blankets and clothes to every baby shoot, it would get boring for me as a photographer. I need variety – whether it’s through the lighting, the people, or the surroundings. But most of all, I much prefer to use the items the parents have personally chosen or been given for their baby. These details tell you something about the parents and make the photoshoot feel personal.
Personal Baby Photos with a Unique Touch
That’s exactly how it was in this beautifully styled nursery. I always find the perfect backdrop for a photo, whether it’s the baby alone in their crib or with mom, dad, or grandma in their arms. For instance, I photographed the baby on their stomach in a beautiful armchair with natural window light. Another photo shows the baby curled up like a little worm in a lovely blanket. There were also pictures in the baby’s crib, as well as a sweet shot on a beautiful rug, wearing an outfit in almost the same color – a tonal look that I really like.
